Valentino Haute Couture Spring 2014

Thought you would like some ethereal & lyrical inspiration by way of the Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2014 Collection. In their words... Fragile, graceful creatures, ethereal and primordial, inhabit a dreamlike world. Sublime creations that define characters in a fairytale-like study of pure individuality. Lyrical and uninhibited, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have created an opus of pure imagination for Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2014 Haute Couture Collection: a harmonious and unexpected work, it is interpreted by a kaleidoscope of figures all seeking a stylistic and psychological unicum. Interpreting Couture from a narrative perspective, they leave it to the spectator to imagine the story while offering ideas and fragments of a fantastic voyage. The collection appears on a set, that is

Leather Weather: Black (leather pants) + White = Italian Style

I'll Have What She's Having: Black leather pants that look so right Yesterday, we talked about the ageless chic of a black leather motorcycle jacket, and today it's time to talk about your lower half. >>MORE: Leather Style There's an off-handedness that Italians have. They could be wearing the most extravagant item -- think a healthy dose of gold, a swath of fur, ornate embellishments, or in this case, black leather pants-- and throw it together in a manner that's effortless and molto elegante, and even casual in their own way. Never garish. Always fun. >>RELATED: When in Rome Black leather pants are one of the hottest trends this season, and we all know how tricky they can be. Let's look at

When In Rome: Flea Market With Vintage Gucci, Fendi, Valentino, Chanel and more

It's big designer names, names, names made even more enticing under the flea market tarp! The city of Rome is truly a living architectural museum, but where do all the old fashion relics go?A good chunk can be found on the right Sunday at the Borghetto Flaminio market.Lot's of vintage costume jewelry and even some hard to find pieces at the Borghetto Flaminio from the 1960s and some Hermes. While Porta Portese is the more widely known flea market in Rome, for me, it's  a crowded and huge mass of junky new items and a few stalls of ratted up old fur. It's been known that if you dig deep enough at Porta Portese that you will find "something" but for me it was more like something plastic and tacky.Porta Portese

Save your shoes and go to Rome- the city is repaving streets to be high heel friendly!

If anyone needs further proof as to how much Italian men love women, look no further than this: Rome's mayor, Gianni Alemanno acknowledges that the historic cobblestone city streets destroy high heels and "has announced plans to begin a makeover on Via del Corso, one of Rome’s central (shopping) streets. The plan is to smooth the sidewalks and roads to make walking along them less dangerous 'especially for women in heels,' reports ItalyMag, with Via del Teatro Marcello, Via Petroselli, and Piazza Bocca della Verità to follow in the re-paving as reported in The Daily Mail. Of course, we can all still have our fantasies of driving around Rome with Marcello Mastroianni a la La Dolce Vita but our Gucci heels will be all

Fashion, Italian Style. Fernanda Gattinoni Couture from Sexpots of the 50’s and 60’s

Fernanda Gattinoni dresses from 1950's -1960's for Italian screen legend Anna Magnani, who was known for her smoldering sexuality and ability to be "real;" I could even forgive Magnani's hairy armpits. You know your guy friend is playing for the other team when he is as excited about these old movie star dresses as you! If I could live in any other time, I would have to say it would be in the 1950's to 1960 in Rome, on the via Veneto. Fernanda Gattinoni for Kim Novak I would be an a hourglass vixen, with heavy eyeliner, a hot temper and smoldering sexuality in a Maserati convertible with a death-defyingly sexy man by my side. Marcello Mastroianni would be on

Richard’s Euroflash: Purple Reign, Italian Street Style

What They Are Wearing in Rome and Naples: During my recent jaunt to Italy, I couldn't help but notice that purple is the new black for Italians of all ages this season. The royal fashion color reigns supreme on everything from plaid lilac blouses to purple purses. In Rome and Naples, the moped ragazzi hit the street running in molto breve short skirts with purple leggings or tights showing a lot of thigh. Modified cowboy boots (Italians are known for their fabuluso take on Spaghetti Western boots), softened motorcycle boots, and the neo-classic Hogan â€~orthopedic chic' metallic oxfords are the hot footwear looks of the moment. The more casual Neapolitans are wearing low-slung jeans hugging the hips with wide belts
