Behind the Scenes at Alexander McQueen- The Beauty, the Splender, the Drama

"I was thinking about a woman as an object of desire. We go to such lengths to adorn ourselves that we almost become our clothes or are taken over by them. This is a collection about excess - an exploration of ideals of beauty at their most extreme." - Sarah Burton, Creative Director of Alexander McQueen How often do we have the rare chance to be mesmerized by the beauty and intimacy of a collection so magical? Sit back and inhale the luxury of this exclusive backstage footage of Sarah Burton and the Alexander McQueen team preparing for the Spring/Summer 2012 runway show during Paris Fashion Week-captured in a short film created by filmmaker Sean Frank. London Fashion Visits NY- The Best of London S/S 2012 at The London Show Rooms

Naveed and I popped by The London Show Rooms in New York last week to take a close-up and intimate look at some of London's brightest designers. As always, we were mesmerized with the up close privilege of ogling at some incredible construction, innovative design, and left with a wish list days long from the generous talent of these young designers from "across the pond."  I guessed right on wanting to see  Cate Blanchette wear Felicity Brown, as, ironically, she's the line's muse. From my lips to Cate's next red carpet would be divine! --S.H. Shortly after the rigid snooze-fest that we've come to think of New York Fashion Week as comes to a wrap comes The London Show Rooms, an annual

Isabel Toledo Spring 2012 Runway Collection In Miami

Besides having Michelle Obama as one of her most ardent celebrity clients, Cuban-born designer Isabel Toledo has been wowing critics and fashion fans including yours truly since she began her eponymous line in the mid-80's with her artisinal-minded, avant-garde confections and her deliberately off-the-radar cult of personality. MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS Leave it to Toledo to debut her Spring 2012 collection just weeks after the fashion-show season has ended and all the way down in Miami...Miami? Well, it makes sense after reading that the event was in conjunction with Vanidades' 6th annual 'Magia de la Moda' fashion event followed by the Fashion Group International honoring Toledo and her husband Ruben with a lifetime achievement award. Here's a breakdown of the show

Alexander McQueen Off The Runway, an Illustrated Look for Spring 2012

Alexander McQueen Spring - Summer 2012 look 2 by Michalis Christodoulou
Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen, offered a truly inspiring collection for Spring/Summer 2012 and in our books, one of the most exciting shows during Paris Fashion Week. MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS As Burton said, the collection was an exploration of ideas of beauty at their most extreme and women as objects of desire. Models had beautifully veiled eyes and expertly lace-bound heads, which immediately triggered my inspiration for illustrating some of the looks. Featuring skirt suits, dresses with translucent chiffon and embroidered lace beneath caged corsets and wide cummerbund belts, narrow skirts pulled in tight under shapely moulded jackets and dresses that encased the bodies in gold and silver ripples, most of the 34 piece strong collection was

In their words... Chloé Spring/Summer 2012 In her first season for Chloé, Creative Director Clare Waight Keller considered the mood of the Chloé girl and discovered a multitude of feminine personalities that define the brand. "I looked at festival girls, girls on the street and David Bailey’s photos of Marie Helvin and Anjelica Huston on a beach," says Keller. "There’s a sense of feminine complicity, sensitivity and sunniness in this collection." Powdery pastels, makeup shades with nudes and pinks and soft bright accents define Chloé’s spring palette. The attitude is confident, but charming

Best of Milan Fashion Week- D&G, Jil Sander, Moschino, Prada – Spring 2012

As per usual, from New York collections one can expect pragmatic sportswear(the kind that doesn't often reinvent the wheel, maybe just spins it), from London one can expect out-of-this-world, well executed propositions and from Milan; riotous colors, bold adornments and brilliant uses of technological advancements in fabrications. And with that being said, Milanese designers did not disappoint. We saw a large variety of finessed, retro-inspired options full of energy, enticing plays on print and a generous dose of giddy sex appeal. Here's a look at our favorite outings from the season in Milan.
