The Iconic Style of Jacqueline de Ribes: The Art of Style at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Growing up I was always inspired by the style of Jacqueline de Ribes. I would tear through the society pages in my mother's Women's Wear Daily and amidst all the socialites photographed at charity functions and black tie events, one woman would grab my attention like no other. Countess Jacqueline de Ribes with her regal profile, long neck and volumes of dark hair, model slim figure and unmeasurable poise was a beacon of authentic style... a woman who knew how to make the most of what she's got in the truest form of iconic style. The Costume Institute is at The Metropolitan Museum of Art is honoring her style in the special Jacqueline de Ribes: The Art of Style costume exhibition

For this week's look back in celebration of the 15th Anniversary Year of FocusOnStyle online, I want to rewind a bit further to this very special post about how I met my style icon, Audrey Hepburn.  What a lovely moment and privilege... S.H. My evening with humanitarian and style icon Audrey Hepburn... Having someone to inspire your work is so important to manifest your own personal abundance. Finally, I found my misplaced 35 mm slide of Ms Hepburn and myself and had to share it with you. I don't know about you but I think almost every woman (and man) of a certain age has been mesmerized by the allure of Audrey Hepburn. yeGrowing up with first runs and reruns of  Audrey Hepburn

Diana Style…

The allure of the People's Princess Diana Style by Colin McDowell; Forward by Manolo Blahnik. Princess Diana's Style - her life as a fashion icon.A decade later: Diana's style evolution from frumpy to fashionable to fantastic! I cried when I heard Diana, Princess of Wales died. I don't really understand why. Even when photographed in one of those ghastly hat horrors that we have come to accept as de rigueur for British royalty there was always something so compelling, so visceral, so natural about the Princess of Wales that you absolutely could not resist taking your eyes off her. And when she did get the royal boot and or fell mercy to the public humiliation of her fair prince reportedly
