Sporty Chic-

Make it Yours: With every label around major city’s fashion weeks creating their own versions of the designer sweatshirt, and with that athletic element a part of everyone’s lives, leave it Milanese designers to up the ante. Designer lounge wear maybe be nothing new, but at Gucci (above), that sense of sport was married with a luxurious hand, charged with sensuality.

This look comes with the bonus of comfort as the best options boast a slouchy ease and sit away from the body. And best of all, you can find polished options at every price point. Instead of a lycra tank, think silk mesh and layer away.

Feminine Minimalism-

Jil Sander Spring 2014

Seen at: Marni, Emporio Armani, Gianfranco Ferre, No. 21

Make it Yours: At the New York Spring 2014 shows, minimalism was shot with a ladylike charm, while in Milan, a truly relaxed, carefree set of options were made future closest constants with timeless, deluxe fabrication.

Look at Jil Sander’s wining number (above), for inspiration. That outfit looks fuss-free, manageable and forever chic. What you should take note of is the simple colors, the attention to silhouettes with a slight twist, and the elements that make them look most current. By pairing a cropped navy jacket with baggy cropped pants and topping the look off with a daring mid-riff baring top, the otherwise classic look has a daring unexpectedness. You may not need to go cropped, but a simpler option with a basic exaggeration such as pleats or darting in a heritage hue could work.

Tropical Prints-

Make it Yours: You can cite Prada’s Men’s Spring 2014 outing with its dark tropical fauna and motifs as a harbinger for the season’s many palm and Hawaiian inspired prints. And so far, Miuccia Prada has been a game changer for Spring 2014 by incorporating all of the season’s most notable trends into one coherent collection, just look at the lead picture (above, top) for one.

Tropical florals cycle in and out of fashion every so often, this time around a dark element looks right. Try strong plays on print such as No. 21′s oversized print (above). Or colorways that are moody to save from a look that’s too kitsch.

Maximal Floral Decoration-

Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014

Make it Yours: Many of the labels in Milan can be counted on for gorgeously realized over-the-top if not excessive ornamentation cleverly applied here & there and Spring 2014 was no exception. With this season in full bloom, statement making bulbous floral applique’s along with many of the decadent beaded botanical extra’s carried London’s floral rush into maximal territory.

There might not be many occasions to wear such ornate frocks, but the idea of a breezey, beautiful chiffon number adorned with a few less florals so rich in detail they look 3-D, sounds universally appealing.

OK, so which trend do you see yourself wearing?
