GOLDEN GLOBES FASHION- Loving the Minimalist Chic of Rooney Mara and Claire Danes

Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci
Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci Golden Globes Fashion Red Carpet Review: As the celebrities make their way through red carpet arrivals, it's clear the minimalist looks are the most stunning. It's easy to make a frothy dress look glam. Pile on the fabric, cinch in the waist, add some glimmer and the princess is good to go. But when it comes to sophisticated chic, a well-cut dress with strong lines is stunning beyond compare without wearing the wearer. Rooney Mara in perfect black Nina Ricci that she described to E! as being "comfortable and simple" is one of the most spectacular looks on the  red carpet that we've seen in a while. Well, except for the last time Rooney was on the

Ab Fab- Rooney Mara in Miu Miu Spring 2012

I'll Have What She's Having: Belly Baring Chic Cropped tops paired with flirty a-line skirts in an ode to retro Italian starlet style were de riguer on many of the Spring/Summer 2012 runways and were one of the season's most surprising trends to take in considering that it takes not only confidence to pull off, but a killer, toned body as well. While on a photo call in Berlin for her latest movie "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," actress Rooney Mara donned a simple, refined take on the trend from Miu Miu, making her the first to take a chance on highlighting her abs off the beach in a subtle mid-riff baring ensemble. For her it works here because

Every once in a while f-a-s-h-i-o-n takes itself way too seriously and fails to remember the heart + soul that is the inspiration for its being. There, I have said it. I wanted to love PUNK: Chaos to Couture at The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. But when you take the grit out of a movement and distance it from its authenticity, what's left are derivative pieces which, when standing alone, are lost in the vapor that is a hot flash of fashion. Sanitizing iconic punk style to what could be a Broadway musical version for the matinée fashion set. Are you for real? Where's the chaos? Where's the historical appeal? A "replica" of the CBGB bathroom attempts to set the mood.

Everything’s right about a bare midriff and how to wear a crop top like Freida Pinto

Frieda Pinto wearing a Salvatore Ferragamo midrif baring 2-piece outfit at the Cannes Film Festival
I"ll Have What She's Having: A flirty bare midriff in balance & how to wear the look. I sure know about this one! I think I spent a good decade of my life running around in a variety of bare midriff crop tops! Having a 22 1/2 inch waist at the time I barely (cheesy pun, I know) met a midsection baring top that I didn't like. >> RELATED: AbFab, Rooney Mara in Miu Miu Belly Baring Chic What was big in the eighties was a re-trend from midriff baring tops in the before air conditioned 1950's. And a subtle nod that if you wore them in any one of those decades, this style has reached its expiration point for

It was wholely retro but completely in-tune with the girlish, Parisian naiveté that Miuccia Prada has been championing for over a decade and completely on-trend. Other notable looks came from
