In this Issue... It's been quite the week! Hubbs, Mr Poodle and I have been road tripping. We've been cruising around from our vacation place in Jackson Hole, Wyoming to Phoenix, Arizona where we started in Scottsdale, headed to Sedona, over to the Grand Canyon and then over to the fabulous Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, a night in Las Vegas (Mr. Poodle played the slots at The Bellagio), and then back to Scottsdale for an intensive speaking mastermind with my amazing coach, the legendary Larry Wingett! Just about every summer, we take a western family road trip from our place in Jackson Hole but this summer was different. It was the first time my son didn't join us

Cannes Do Chic- White is summer’s new black

I'll Have What She's Having: A summer romance with my dry cleaner White is definitely on trend for summer. But I have to admit a slow love to ditch my go-to black beyond white t-shirts, jeans, sneakers, and classic, crisp white shirts (follow the links for style tips). Maybe it was last week in the California sunshine where I lost count on the plethora of white jeans,  but these Cannes Do Chic snaps certainly make the case for adding something white to your summer wardrobe. My favorite red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival  offers plenty of styling inspiration for every occasion by way of (clockwise) Cate Blanchett in a Giorgio Armani white suit, Chrystele Saint Louis Augustin in a midriff-baring bralette and

Haute Couture Inspiration- Schiaparelli Paris Spring/Summer 2015

On this snowy New York day, nothing could be more uplifting that the divine wit and whimsy from the Schiaparelli Paris Haute Couture Spring 2015 Collection shown during Paris Couture Fashion Week. The collection called “Reflections of Elsa” is described as "an ode to self-confidence" with surrealist touches in homage to Elsa Schiaparelli like trompe l’oeil hands that close a crystal star necklace. Notice the flats worn with the very fabulously flamboyant pieces. There really is something magical about this collection, don't you think? MORE: Runway and Schiaparelli In In their words... Schiaparelli Paris Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015  “Reflections of Elsa” Elsa Schiaparelli introduced her “Stop, Look & Listen” collection in January 1935 when she moved into her new couture house located 21 place Vendôme. How to Wear It Week! Everyday Mom Chic: Julianne Moore gets how to wear a cute summer hat and not look like a run of the mill hipster

Julianne Moore at LAX wearing Hat Attack’s Julia floppy fedora.
This week’s summer spotlight is How to Wear It Week. Let's look at this favorite post about wearing a summer hat with élan. I'll Have What She's Having: A cute summer hat that's classic and chic with easy, non affected summer style Hipster hats are really ironic. Afterall, the hipster style point of view for wearing a hat is to kinda look like an independent thinking progressive, anti-establishment cool dude. Yet, if everyone is running around wearing the same dang fedora, doesn't that morph into looking like an über establishment conformist? Humm. >> MORE: Hats But, a nifty summer straw can be rather chic. Not to mention add a bit of protective shade. Just look at Julianne Moore wearing Hat Attack’s Julia floppy

Didn’t get a pedicure? Try a pair of closed toe shoes for summer

Not so happy with your toes this week? No problem, there are plenty of stylish closed toe shoes for summer that keep your lack of pedicure under wraps.   Dear Sharon:   I don't want to seem like Captina Obvious here, but what kind of  closed toes shoes for summer look both stylish and not weird? The thing is that I don't have enough time to get a semi monthly pedicure at a nail salon. When I try to paint my toes myself, I'm like a little girl with swished polish everywhere on my toe except my nail.  I'm looking for some fall-back shoes that don't seem so heavy but still cover my chipped nails. Summer Chic Noir- Black Never Boring or Basic When You Style It Like a City Girl

There's something about black. Maybe I started to be a fan because I'm a native New Yorker and the perennial color du jour is chic + never faltering black. It's the one color that has that cool edge besides being the glue to almost everything else you own, and says I've arrived rather than where am I going. Try that mint green, why don't you? I'm not talking about dour and dreary funereal black that washes you out. But the dynamic and urban way of combining fabrications and cuts that's grown-up, classy, and very New York City, or Paris, or any metropolitan city for that matter. What about your other basics, like denim and white, you ask? They play right in to the refined mix.
